Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Minnesota Legislature passed a 2014 law requiring higher education institutions to report incidents on study abroad programs. Other state and federal lawmakers have expressed interest in similar regulation. What are the implications for Minnesota institutions, non-Minnesota institutions and the field? The session will cover the history of the legislation, implementation of the law in Minnesota and tie to the best practices in international risk management.

As a result of participating in this session, attendees will:
 Receive insights on how the Minnesota law came to be and the processes surrounding the implementation of the law.
 Receive an update on pending legislation in other states and at the national level;
 Understand how lessons learned in Minnesota can be applied in other states and at the federal level.
 Apply best practices and lessons learned to discussion on their own campus, with legislators and with the public.
